Choosing Your Setup

A practical guide to choosing the pole, syringe, needle and accessories for your application

Choose the setup around the job you need to do

A pole-syringe setup is made up of several components. Start with the animal-handling situation and working environment, then consider the pole, syringe, needle and any adaptor or accessory required.

What animal-handling situation are you dealing with?

Start with the application. Consider the animal, the working environment and why close access is difficult or impractical. This gives you the context for choosing the equipment.

The pole determines your working reach. Telescopic poles provide adjustable reach, while modular poles provide a more compact option.

Available working space can influence pole choice. Modular poles are suited to smaller spaces and cages, while telescopic poles provide adjustable reach for field-oriented applications.

Inyathi currently offers 5 ml, 10 ml and 20 ml complete nylon syringes, plus a 2.5 ml syringe system. The appropriate capacity depends on the intended application.

Use Luer Lock needles with Inyathi syringes. Gauge and length selection depends on several animal- and medication-specific factors, so use the Needle Guide for recommendations.

An adaptor may be required where the syringe thread does not match the pole thread. Other accessories and replacement items can also form part of the setup depending on your equipment and needs.

Tell Inyathi about the animal-handling situation, working environment and equipment you already have. We can help you work through the available product options.

Four parts to consider when choosing your setup

More questions to help you narrow down the right pole-syringe setup

What should I decide before looking at individual products?

Start with the animal-handling situation, working environment and the amount of working distance or access you need. Then consider the individual components.

Telescopic poles provide adjustable, extendable reach and are positioned for field and cattle applications. Modular poles are compact, making them suitable for smaller spaces and cages.

Current syringe options include 2.5 ml, 5 ml, 10 ml and 20 ml capacities.

The 2.5 ml option has an aluminium plunger that fits disposable plastic syringes compatible with Luer Lock needles.

The 5 ml, 10 ml and 20 ml options are complete reusable nylon syringes with aluminium plungers.

Needle selection can depend on factors including species, skin thickness, muscle mass, medication or fluid characteristics and intended injection depth. Use the Needle Guide for recommendations.

An adaptor is used where the syringe thread does not match the pole thread. Do not assume compatibility; confirm the correct component with Inyathi when necessary.

Yes. Current replacement items include outer syringes, silicone O-rings, silicone lubricant, adaptors and other replacement or accessory parts.

Are protective bags available?

Yes. Protective storage bags are available for pole-syringe equipment and can help keep components together and protected.

Yes. Inyathi currently offers two starter-kit options for different user groups and working environments. Confirm the current contents with Inyathi before ordering.

Kit #1 is positioned for farmers, wildlife vets, game capture teams and field-oriented use.

Kit #2 is positioned for domestic vets, animal-welfare users and SPCAs.

Yes. Modular poles are compact and are positioned for smaller spaces and cages. The appropriate setup still depends on the specific working environment.

Replacement components and maintenance items are available for existing equipment. Tell Inyathi what you already have and which part or accessory you need.
